"South of France in So-Cal"
Amusé is French for amusement...
As one enters the restaurant, passing a fountain mounted onto a vine covered wall, gently shaded by the umbrellas and cooled by the gentle mist. The smell of the fresh baked scones and other breakfast breads will envelope the area. Open French doors allowing the interior of the space to mingle with the outside will give Amusé a distinctive European feel. Guests may walk to the counter where the Cafe Amuse staff will direct their attention to the Menu, written in Calligraphy on a chalkboard above their heads. The local art on the walls and oversized fresh floral arrangements will amuse the eye while the soft French music and pleasing scents will amuse the nose.
“In my twenty years in the restaurant and hotel industry, I have witnessed success and failure. I have mentally and physically cataloged all the qualities and reasons for both the successes and failures I’ve witnessed. I have researched the demographics for the Palm Springs area and all the cities therein. My family and I belong to the same demographic niche, as will be my potential customer. I have also been fortunate to work at, and observe in detail, the cafes that will be my potential competition. This gives me a unique advantage over the competition by being able to mimic the choices they have made that help them be successful. On the other hand, I can avoid the mistakes they have made as well.” “My dedication to perfection and excellence in food and the service of it has been ingrained in me since childhood.” Chef Rod Wilker |
